few symbols are stronger than a candle that, burning in the dark, brings light into an environment: it is its mobility without constraints that has allowed the reduced brightness of a simple candle to be brought close to its point of use and thus to illuminate the long course of men’s lives until the last years of the nineteenth century, when edison conceived and produced the first electric light bulb. i have always related the concept of “light” to that of “movement”. the theme of a point of light that can be moved with ease and balance in space has always been a constant that characterized many of my projects of lamps. for this is important to be able to intervene easily on the position, on the quality and on the intensity of the light emitted by the lamp at any time and in any point within environments with ever changing surfaces and heights.
